Do you Want to see how a 3-D printer works? Maybe you've always wanted to learn to sew or create your own jewelry or do some woodworking.

The Future Forge Makerspace will host an Open House/Fundraiser this Saturday June 29th from 10am-6:30pm at 307 East College Avenue in Silver City. You can see their facility, what they offer and have a chance to meet some members, staff and neighbors.

Future Forge Makerspace - Their name says it all - its a community space where the hands-on experience is the thing. At the Makerspace experts from our community take time to teach, support and encourage your hands-on creativity while offering the tools and materials to make your desires come to life.

You can explore all the possibilities for learning at Saturday's event: see the 3-D printers up close, the computer room, the textile room, the shop where they teach jewelry making, the new, huge laser cutter in action and more. You can also sign up to be a member which allows you to use any of their tools and equipment during your classes, which you can get information about. You can also meet the staff and Board members who work so hard to promote this non-profit. (Video; Sami Gonzales-Administrative Assistant- Future Forge)

This "old is new again" approach to learning is why people keep coming here. Stephen Lindsey, Chairman of the Board says, The Future Forge Makerspace is a community resource for those who love hands-on creating and learning. At the Saturday event you'll also get a chance to socialize, enjoy refreshments, meet other Makerspace members and teachers. And of course you'll have a chance to create something; everybody gets a chance to try their hand at painting a terra cotta flower pot. The flower pots then go on sale to fund the programs.
