Dear Community Members:

PUBLIC NOTICE

As part of our continued efforts to modernize our health system, we recently changed from a paper process to an electronic process for documentation of our ER visit charges. Shortly after the change, we identified that some ER visits were receiving higher charges than we would expect.

Our clinical and finance teams conducted a thorough investigation and found the new electronic process was inadvertently "over-weighting" some of the clinical treatments resulting in the higher charges. Our team corrected the errors in charging and has initiated a 100% audit of all ER patient bills to ensure the charges are appropriately aligned with the treatments patients received going back to the first day when we converted to the electronic process.

Every ER visit that needs to be corrected will be, and we will resubmit all the corrected patient bill's through the patient's insurance company. Patients that were affected by this and have paid on their account may receive a credit back. Additionally, prior to the electronic process change, GRMC staff performed periodic audits of ER visits to ensure charging accuracy.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this matter. It is our goal to always provide the highest level of care and service to our patients and their families.

Sincerely,
Robert Whitaker
