Washington, D.C. - One week after Power The Future urged congressional leaders to launch an investigation into President Joe Biden's appointment of John Podesta as Climate Czar, House Energy and Commerce Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), ranking member for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, sent a letter to the White House late yesterday raising concerns the appointment of John Podesta is circumventing the law, according to an exclusive story in the Washington Examiner.
When Joe Biden appointed John Kerry to this questionable position in 2021, Nancy Pelosi looked the other way. Now, thanks to Chairwoman Rodgers and Senator Capito, we see it's no longer business as usual in Washington, D.C.," said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. "There's no reason for Joe Biden to have a secret climate office run by a political operative unless his real goal is rewarding his green allies while evading Congress. Kudos to Chairwoman Rodgers and Senator Capito for standing up to this reckless abuse of power."
According to the Examiner, the letter from lawmakers reads in part: "We are alarmed at your apparent decision to circumvent the law," the lawmakers told Biden. "This appointment is another example of your administration's practice of creating new offices that do not require Senate confirmation or that do not have explicit statutory missions and constraints. By placing considerable policy authority with these individuals, you demonstrate a flagrant disregard for the separation of powers and congressional authority under both the Constitution and federal law."
Power The Future recently filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration seeking information about the Climate Czar's office.
