Power The Future Launches New Ad Campaign in Key States Demanding Incumbents Break Their Silence About Kamala on Energy
Washington, D.C. - Today, Power The Future will launch a social media campaign in Ohio, Montana, New Mexico, Alaska, and Nevada demanding key members of Congress from those states go on the record about Kamala Harris’ energy agenda. As the Democratic National Convention is in full swing in Chicago, these key members of Congress from energy states are noticeably absent. According to reports, at least four Senators and one at-large member of the House will not attend the DNC despite the fact they are up for re-election in November and energy plays a critical role in their states.
“The reason these members of Congress are AWOL from the convention is clear: they know the Harris energy plan is a disaster for families so they’re deciding to hide and hope no one notices,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “It’s not enough that American energy delivers billions to these states, energy workers also had to overcome the hostile Biden-Harris administration. That’s why so it’s pathetic to see these representatives hide in the shadows. The bottom line is you either support American energy or you support Kamala Harris’ Green New Deal. These members can hide from the DNC, but they can’t hide from their constituents.”
Power The Future will launch a social media campaign featuring this videoof Kamala Harris presenting her anti-energy positions. Each video will demand the AWOL members of Congress go on the record about if they will support this agenda if re-elected. Those who will be highlighted in the campaign include:
Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio - Ohio is a major producer and consumerof Natural Gas. Two weeks ago, Sen. Brown ran from questions about Harris’ stance on fracking.
Senator Martin Heinrich - New Mexico is the second largest producer of oil in the nation and accounts for 14 percent of all oil produced in the United States. And despite the fact Joe Biden won the state by more than 10 points in 2020, according to one report Senator Heinrich will not be at the DNC due to “other commitments.” He remains silent on Harris’ energy agenda.
Congresswoman Mary Peltola - Alaska ranks 5th in oil production and is also a key producer of natural gas. Congresswoman Mary Peltola represents that state’s at-large district and remains silent on Harris’ energy agenda.
Senator Jon Tester - Montana has the nation’s largest recoverable coal reserves and accounts for about 5 percent of America’s coal production. Senator Tester remains silent on Kamala Harris’ support of the Green New Deal.
Senator Jacky Rosen - Natural gas provides electricity for more than half of Nevada and powers the state’s largest power plants. So far, Senator Rosen has not spoken about Vice President Harris’ support of the Green New Deal.
Power The Future is a 501c4 non-profit dedicated to fighting for American energy workers.
