Washington, D.C. - A new report titled Green Fail sheds light on the waste and widespread fraud running rampant in the Biden-Harris administration’s environmental policies, particularly those tied to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA.) The report, released by Power The Future, presents a detailed analysis of the misallocation of billions of taxpayer dollars and results that fall well short of expectations.
“The proof is in the pudding, and it’s clear the Biden-Harris administration is long on rhetoric and short on results,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “As Vice President Harris seeks to convince voters her candidacy represents a new course from the status quo, this report is a damning indictment for the failures she’s overseen. As the tie-breaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, Harris must explain why green activist groups get millions of dollars of handouts while working families grapple with sky-high prices for everyday goods.”
The report reveals that instead of addressing their stated goals, the Biden-Harris initiatives often empower activist groups. Additionally, the spending lacks oversight and accountability that leads to wasteful spending and limited results.
Key Findings of the Report, which can be found here, include:
Misallocation of Funds: Billions of dollars intended to support environmental justice and clean energy projects are being funneled into activist training programs that do little to address core environmental issues. The report highlights several grants, including $500,000 to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute for educating community activists to oppose offshore wind projects, and $425,000 to a Houston-based group for cultivating youth environmental advocates.
Lack of Oversight: The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Inspector General noted that despite receiving $41.5 billion in IRA funds, there is minimal oversight to track how these funds are being used. The absence of accountability measures has led to a significant portion of the funds being misdirected, with another $2 billion in grant funds set to be distributed without proper oversight.
Ineffectiveness of Climate Policies: Of more than 1,500 global climate policies reviewed in the report, only 63 have been shown to produce measurable results in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of those “effective” policies involve raising energy taxes while many of the subsidized green energy projects, such as solar and wind, have failed to meet their intended targets.
The False Promise of Carbon Offsets: The report also criticizes the reliance on carbon offsets, labeling them as ineffective and, in some cases, harmful. Projects funded by carbon offsets, such as reforestation efforts, have been marred by controversy, including human rights violations and failure to deliver on promised environmental benefits.
