Silver City, NM – Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) has received a new state-of-the-art ambulance to further improve Emergency Medical Services for the Grant County area. The new vehicle, valued at $330,000, was made possible through a partnership between the county and GRMC, with funding from the New Mexico EMS Fund Act.
The new ambulance will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Starlink satellite communication and iPads, which will allow emergency medical responders to transmit patient information directly to the hospital before arrival. This will enable GRMC’s medical team to assess the situation in advance and prepare for the most effective course of treatment upon the ambulance’s arrival.
Eloy Medina, EMS Director at GRMC, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This new ambulance is a significant step in lifting the standards for our paramedics and improving the quality of care we provide to the Grant County community. I would like to extend my gratitude to Robert Whitaker, CEO of GRMC, for his unwavering support in securing this critical resource.”
The new ambulance went into service, March 6, 2025, and additional equipment installation is expected to be completed by next week. The vehicle was manufactured by Osage Industries, Inc., a leader in ambulance production known for its commitment to safety and quality, ensuring both patient and paramedic safety during emergency operations.
This upgrade demonstrates GRMC’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its EMS team and ensuring that Grant County residents receive the highest level of care in times of emergency.
