Give Grandly 2024

Surpasses Expectations

From April 20th through May 20th, donations rolled in daily, with contributions coming both online and in-person gifts, raising a remarkable $253,593 for 65 area nonprofits located in Grant, Luna, Hidalgo, and Catron counties. Organized by the Give Grandly Coalition and supported by Grant County Community Foundation, this annual event has become a cornerstone of communal support, bringing together local nonprofits, and community members in a vibrant downtown festival.

"Give Grandly is Southwest New Mexico's largest and most inclusive communal fundraiser," said Mick Smith of the Grant County Community Foundation and 2024 Give Grandly Coordinator. "This year, we had a generous match fund, donors contributing from around the world, and as you can see," she added, gesturing to the bustling booths, "our entire community benefits. We talk about this event all year!"

"Give Grandly! has become more than just an event, it is now a holiday for nonprofits to celebrate one another," says Mary Stone of Future Forge, "We participate in Give Grandly because it embodies the spirit of community and collaboration that defines our mission. Give Grandly! Isn't just a day of giving; it's a celebration of unity among nonprofits, a platform for sharing resources and building partnerships. Through this event, our organization has not only received vital support but has also forged lasting connections that amplify our impact in the community. Give Grandly! is more than just a fundraiser; it's a catalyst for positive change and collective empowerment."

This year each organization met their match of $500, many of which far surpassed it. This donation stimulus is provided by the generous sponsors of Give Grandly!: Suzi & Janey; United Way of Southwest New Mexico; Freeport-McMoRan; SunZia, a Pattern Energy project; Griffin's Propane; Hidalgo Medical Services; First New Mexico Bank; Better Homes and Gardens; Grant County Title Company; Terrazas Funeral Chapels; The Grant County Beat; First American Bank and Vladimir Gnilozubov and Niel McDonald of Edward Jones. We are extremely grateful to each of them for supporting our community. Additional support for Give Grandly comes from in-kind donations, grants and funds awarded by the Town of Silver City, McCune Charitable Foundation, Javalina Coffee Shop, Silver City Daily Press, Gila Mimbres Community Radio, and the Makers Market.

"It's not just about the money," emphasizes Smith. "It's about our entire community engaging in grassroots philanthropy, which strengthens our community fabric. People are thinking about it, participating in it, and making our whole community stronger for it," she says with a smile.
