An academically achieving student as well, Mondello has served as the National Honor Society President, class Vice President, and has placed third both regionally and at the state level in National History Day competition. She too has been active in her church. Athletically she has excelled in soccer. Following graduation from Silver High School, Mondello will attend Ft Lewis College where she will pursue a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Both of these young women already have logged in many work hours in their respective family's business: Lacey at Silver Powersports and Adrianna at Morning Star Sports.

Funds for the endowed scholarship were raised primarily by Silver City P.E.O. Chapters AG and BR via purse auctions held annually to honor then-resident Nancy Champlin's serving as state P.E.O. president in 2013. First awarded in 2015, the scholarship has now helped 13 young Grant County women to further their educational dreams.
