Welcome to the QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER from Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center.

The Board wants to keep you informed of progress in this major project to provide an additional outstanding cultural benefit to Silver City and Southwest New Mexico.

Volume 1, Issue 3 of SWRMA Quarterly Newsletter

Future Quarterly Newsletters will update and inform about aspects of Funding, Operation, Program Planning, Art Acquisition through Deed of Gift, and more.

But, since one of our missions is education, a regular feature of the QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER will introduce you to art in the Permanent Collection and provide information about the artist, art medium, style, or how it represents the era in which it was created.

We hope you find the QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER interesting and the format fun to read. Please sign up HERE...

Hello, Art Museum supporters!

Much has happened and is happening toward getting a proper Museum building.

The BOARD OF DIRECTORS spent January refining the SWRMA Business Plan and are beginning the Museum’s necessary Capital Campaign.

The State of New Mexico for the Fiscal Year 2026 has given money to the Tourism Department for grants. Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center has applied for one of the grants under the Destination Forward Development Program to encourage more tourism infrastructure in the state. The $ 500,000 grant to establish phase one of Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center would purchase a building.

Our own Capital Campaign funds will remodel the building access to make it both elegant and ADA compliant; The Capital Fund will remodel interior spaces into several galleries, install gallery lighting, HVAC, and form the work area for the behind the scenes activities that go to produce exhibitions along with storage appropriate for preservation of artworks to complete phase two and open to the public.

Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center qualified to be considered for this grant because the town of Silver City agreed to act as our Fiscal Agent with the State of New Mexico.

We feel our application was strong and are grateful to the many individuals and organizations who wrote Letters of Support for Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center. We will be notified in June if Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center is awarded the Grant.

 Thank you all,

THE BOARD
