The fiber art fashions made by members of SWFAC showcase one-of-a-kind designs created especially for the event. The show will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 with doors opening at 12:30 pm at the historic Silco Theater located at 311 N. Bullard St. in downtown Silver City. Funds raised by the event will go to support classes, outreach to the community, and sales events.

The fundraiser is unique because 100 percent of the sales of the garments sold immediately after the show go to the maker of the item. SWFAC receives the proceeds of the tickets sold and the gift basket drawings.

“It’s a unique win-win, raising funds for SWFAC and also fulfilling our mission to provide a means for fiber artisans to earn income. Our fall fiber art sale is the other big event for our members”, states Colette Kelly, treasurer of SWFAC.

Fiber art fashions featured in the show include hand-knit, crocheted, handwoven, hand-dyed silk, felted, upcycled, hand-sewn, reimaged and basketry! “There are truly unique pieces in the show. Purchasing an item supports local fiber artisans and helps to keep these fiber art techniques alive. The purchases also keep our dollars local!” states Kelly. All fashions will be listed along with their price in the Tapestry of Talent program and will be available for sale after the show.

In addition to the show, there will be four wonderful gift basket drawings. SWFAC members and community members have donated items to make the baskets appealing to everyone. These are amazing baskets and they alone are worth coming to the show!

Seating for the event is open with doors opening at 12:30 pm. Refreshments will be available in the Silco Theater concession.

We are especially grateful to our sponsors the Town of Silver City, Janey and Suzi and the Elks Club. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at our homepage at www.fiberartscollective.org. The event has sold out for the past two years and with only 37 tickets left, we encourage people to purchase tickets soon.

SWFAC was founded in 2005 and is a local, all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the goal to stimulate and support successful cottage industry in the southwest. To accomplish this, SWFAC members nurture and empower one another. Both novice and skilled SWFAC artists enrich the community by fostering opportunities to gain new experience and expand talent as well as earn income from their art. Please visit SWFAC’s website at www.fiberartscollective.org to learn more about the organization.
