October 27, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Climate Justice"
"There is now a strong consensus among climate scientists that global warming has advanced to a point where it poses an existential threat to civilization and perhaps even to humanity as an enduring species," said Shannon Cimarron, who will be speaking about climate change and its effects on the Earth.
Cimarron stated that within the next 25 years, humans working together globally will either make radical changes to nearly every major system of the modern world or, failing that, condemn ourselves and future generations to life on a dystopian planet.
"In this presentation I will discuss the scientific evidence that supports such a consensus and then lay out the actions needed to save us in what little time remains," he said.
Shannon Cimarron is a retired electrical engineer who has spent the last 20 years studying scientific books, papers, and podcasts about climate change and energy transition as well as the political and economic roadblocks to addressing it.
There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.
Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays. This Sunday is a Children's RE Sunday.
Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
