New Director of The Commons to Speak at PFLAG Meeting
Silver City, NM, April 30, 2024–
Iris Nolasco, the new executive director of The Commons, will be the guest speaker at the May 7th PFLAG meeting, 6:00 PM, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3845 N. Swan. The public is invited, and light refreshments will be served.
Ms. Nolasco is a graduate of both Silver High School and Western New Mexico University. She has expertise in Nonprofit Management, Community Development, and Equity and Inclusion initiatives. Her journey with the organization  actually began in 2007 when she served as an Americorps Volunteer and staff member at The Volunteer Center, now The Commons, where she played a pivotal role in its formation. She has also worked as the Peace Corps Environmental Conservation Extension Agent in Panama.
A PFLAG spokesperson said, "Food insecurity is an issue that can affect anyone, including people in the LGBTQ+ community. We are delighted to host Iris and get the word out about the important work The Commons does in Grant County.
