This free annual sales event is a pop-up gallery and will be held Saturday October 12 from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday October 13 from 10 am to 2 pm in the ballroom of the Murray Hotel in Downtown Silver City.
The work of 16 fiber artists will include hats, socks, totes, quilts, rag rugs, scarves, purses, bags,
wearable art, embroidered items, greeting cards, spirit dolls, toys, fabric pictures, home accessories and décor, pine needle baskets, and rope bowls as well as felted sculptures, slippers, and pins; hand-sewn and knitted clothing; tie-dyed, ice-dyed, and silk painted garments; and handwoven towels, scarves, tapestries, and jewelry among a multitude of other handcrafted fiber items.
The wide range of fiber mediums encompassed in this sale are knitting, weaving, felting, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, painting, dyeing, and sewing. This is a wonderful opportunity to shop for a unique holiday gift and will support local fiber artists, keeping dollars local.
The sale will also feature Weaving for Justice, a non-profit that supports fiber artists in Chiapas. They will be selling handwoven and embroidered textiles.
The SWFAC welcome booth will have education boards on display that explain the different types of fiber art.
Beverages along with sweet and savory goods baked by Bev Bean will be available for sale in the lobby with plenty of room to sit and relax.
