JoanneSiriApril 13, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Solo Aging and Social Support"

Joanne DeMichele and Siridharma Khalsa will explain what solo aging is and where one can find support.

"The term "solo ager" refers to aging adults who live alone and have no immediate family to rely on, whether by choice or circumstance. We will explore some of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by individuals aging independently, including proactive planning, community living, sharing resources, building support networks, and having fun along the way," DeMichele said.

Joanne DeMichael and Siridharma Khalsa are passionate advocates for end-of-life matters. DeMichele has a background and fondness for estate and strategic planning. For the past four years, she has been enjoying community living. Khalsa spent nearly 40 years living "in community" and the last 13 years living alone. Together, they are gathering tools and tips on how to age safely, live fully, and be connected to others and communities.

Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.  This Sunday will be a Children's RE program.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:
