November 3, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Songs by Local Singer Kim Jensen"
Singer-performer Kim Jensen will sing from her repertoire of gospel, inspirational and jazz songs on Sunday, November 3. She will share how the music connects to and influences her personal life experiences.
Kim Jensen has lived in Silver City since 1972. After retiring from the Phelps Dodge Mine, her father became pastor of the Word of Life Ministries congregation, and she began singing in his church. Her interest in music and stage performance continued as she obtained a degree in Music at WNMU.
She has performed in several WNMU Broadway musicals, including "Fiddler on the Roof," "Nunsense" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." She played the lead - Laurie - in "Oklahoma" and directed "A 'Seussified' Christmas Carol."
Until recently Jensen sang Jazz at the Buckhorn Saloon and other local venues. She also has performed as a background actor on shows like "Longmire," "Night Shift," "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs," and most recently "Rez Ball" (on Netflix).
Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
