New Mexico State University's Marketing and Communications department invites the NMSU and Las Cruces communities to the third annual Gratitude Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 14.
This year's family-friendly event will feature a 1-mile fun run and 5K timed race across NMSU's campus. Both will showcase campus scenery, passing landmarks such as Aggie Memorial Stadium and Corbett Center Student Union.
With newly designed routes, both races will begin at the Horseshoe. The 5K will start at 9:15 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run will begin at 9:30 a.m.
A variety of food options will be available, including local food trucks along with complimentary water, granola bars, fruit and aguas frescas courtesy of Alma's Kitchen. Participants can also expect free NMSU merchandise, photo opportunities with Pistol Pete and NMSU Cheer, and medals to commemorate their participation.
Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items as donations for the Aggie Cupboard, which supports NMSU community members facing adversity and food insecurity.
"This event has grown each year and has really become something special for our entire community," said Justin Bannister, NMSU's associate vice president for marketing and communications. "This year, we're excited to collaborate with the Aggie Cupboard to support our NMSU students, staff and faculty, and anticipate seeing both new and returning participants."
Participants can register online. There is a $10 registration fee for the 1-mile fun run and a $20 fee to enter the 5K race. Both events are free to individuals 12 and younger. 5K teams of four or more are eligible for a $5-per-team-member discount. The first 200 registrants are eligible to receive a free t-shirt.
