Donald Floyd Rogers, 88, a resident of Hanover, NM entered eternal rest Friday, July 5, 2024, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born March 3, 1936, to Lee Marshall Rogers and Ula Bly Greer Rogers and grew up in Bayard, NM with his eight brothers and four sisters. He graduated from Cobre High School in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 10/14/58 ~ 10/13/60. He married the love of his life, Judy Brown, on August 21, 1970. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter.
He dedicated 42 years 7 months to Kennecott Copper Corp/Phelps Dodge retiring in Jan 1998. He was an active member and President of Mangus Bowman Archery Club, his four boys and wife shot as well and traveled across the country to many competitions.
He also worked as a bus aide for Silver Schools. Not a day would go by that he wouldn't say how truly grateful he was of the "Heaven on Earth" that he and his wife, Judy, called home with the amazing views, wildlife, fruit trees, fountain, and fishpond he so dearly loved. He always had a keen eye for spotting wildlife, he enjoyed bowhunting with family, making barn wood frames, riding around in his Corvette, taking his grandkids horseback riding, playing horseshoes, washers, and cornhole while camping with family and friends at the lake or in the mountains, or at the annual family reunions. He truly cherished every moment with family, his grandkids were his pride and joy and he loved watching them play sports. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. It was through his laughter and stories that taught us to embrace life with humor and above all, love deeply.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy Rogers; four sons, Scott Rogers and wife Karen of Albuquerque; Kevin Rogers of Albuquerque; Gary Rogers and wife Nicki of Las Cruces; Terry Rogers and wife Teresa of Lebanon, TN; one daughter, Judy Gallegos and husband Joseph of Deming; nine grandchildren, First Class Petty Officer Payson Rogers, Harley Rogers, Cameron Rogers, Zachery Rogers, Whitney Rogers, Alanah Gallegos, Taylor Rogers, Breccan Rogers, and Briar Rose Rogers; one brother, Lester Rogers of Bayard; one sister, Glenda Nelson of Safford, AZ; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
