Edward Perry Atwood, 98, of Lower Frisco-Reserve, NM passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025 peacefully at his ranch home surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired rancher, often uplifting and inspiring family and friends by singing and playing guitar, saxophone, and piano.
He was born to Oscar T. Atwood and Genevieve Hightower Atwood in San Pedro, California on November 21, 1926. His parents and siblings moved to Reserve when he was 18 months old. Eddie was drafted into the US Army during World War II and served his country in Japan. His love of his Lord, faith, family and friends expressed a special code for living sincerely and abundantly.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, married for nearly 71 years and five children: Brenda and husband, Dan Abercrombie of Duncan, OK; Shane and wife, Jan Atwood of Reserve, NM; Lincoln and wife, Rhonda Atwood of Silver City, NM; Ash and wife, Robin Atwood of Parker, CO (and part time in Reserve, NM); Donna and husband, Bruce Bawcom of Hillsboro, OR.
In addition to the five children, he is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren include: Caroline Abercrombie Boles, husband Jake; Amber Abercrombie Weeks, husband Shawn J.; Leslie Abercrombie Kirkes, husband Justin; Robert Calvin Abercrombie, wife Mercedes; Edward Lee Atwood, wife Abby; Lacy Atwood Adair, husband Danial II; Shawna Atwood King, husband Dustin; Justin Atwood; Ashli Atwood Schultz, husband Ryan; Tana Atwood; Timothy Atwood, wife Grace; Jeremy Bawcom, wife Delaney; Jasper Bawcom, wife Amanda (Mandy); Jade Bawcom-Randall, husband Morgan.
Great-grandchildren include: Via Caroline: Faylynn and Tyler Boles; Via Amber: Elia and Lillian Weeks; Via Leslie: Gwendolyn and Josiah Kirkes; Via Robert: Remington and Piper Abercrombie; Via Eddie Lee: Ashlyn, Shane, Trey and Trevor Atwood; Via Lacy: Bella, Lorna, Taren, and Danial III Adair; Via Shawna: Z. Julian and Zaylen Atwood and Andilynn Earnhart; Via Ashli: Hayli and Jane Schultz.
He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Jean W. Atwood and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Lorena King, Genevieve Kelly, and Sarah Zanzucchi, and his brothers: Thomas, twin brother Robert (Bob), and Matthew (died in infancy), as well as one grandchild Robert Carol Abercrombie who also died in infancy.
Memorial services are scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 8 at 3:00 PM at the Community Church of Reserve (formerly known as Presbyterian Church) located at the corner of Esther St. and Jake Scott St., Reserve, NM. Inurnment will take place after the passing of Barbara where they will be inurned together at San Isidro Cemetery, Lower Frisco, Reserve, NM.
