Evelyn Madrid Pino, 86, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, September 22, 2024 at her daughter's residence in Edgewood, NM. She was born April 24, 1938 in Silver City to Manuel and Antonia V. Montes.
Evelyn was known for her famous tacos, burritos and most of all her tamales. She had a good sense of humor, a great smile and sweet spirit. She loved to sing and dance. Years ago, she sang with a band at the Brown Derby. She could often be found dancing and singing as she cooked. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne L. Monroe of Edgewood, NM; Elaine M. Madrid of Edgewood; one brother, Sam Montes of Deming; three sisters, Lydia Faber and husband Harold of Weston, CO; Mary Salazar of AK; and Nora Peña of TX; her grand-dog, Max.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Fred, Joe, Ben, and Luciano Montes; five sisters, Lucy, Louisa, Leo, Ruth "Cookie" and Eppi; her favorite son in-law, Tom Monroe.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1st at 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to be recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga to commence at 10am. The funeral mass will follow at St. Francis Newman Center at 11:30am with Father Ephraim Eulike officiating. Concluding service cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
