Hermila Chavez, 70, Deming resident passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will take place Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11 o'clock in the morning, with the Funeral Service to begin at 1:30 in the afternoon. Lalo Diaz will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Hermila was born on September 6, 1953 to Teresa Ruiz & Ricardo Ruiz. Hermila was a woman of faith, a hard worker, loving and a good cook and was dedicated to her home and her family. A woman who always went hand in hand with her husband to provide for her family, who never gave up despite her illness, fighting day by day for 5 years. Always with a smile on her face. Cooking for her family and seeing us at her table all together made her happy, always trying to keep the family together. Hermila liked to talk, whenever someone visited her, she welcomed them with open arms. She was a believer in God, always a woman of faith, of a good heart, of good feelings. She was the best wife, the best mother, and a very caring and loving grandmother, a good mother-in-law, sister, exemplary daughter, and a very good friend. You will always be in our hearts of all of us who love you.

She is survived by her husband Leobardo Chavez; daughters, Lizeth Chavez Ibarra (Oscar) and Florisel Chavez; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jeriel and Jeremy Ibarra, Luis Vega and Nazaret Gonzalez, and great-grandchildren, Abiel Vega, Ian Vega, and Rosario Gonzalez; 4 sisters, Maria Ruiz (Miguel Almanza), Nora Ruiz, Egla Ruiz and Elva Ruiz (Antonio Avila).

She is preceded in death by her parents Ricardo and Teresa Ruiz and her siblings Ricardo and Magdalena Ruiz.

Serving as pallbearers will be Luis Vega, Oscar, Jeriel and Jeremy Ibarra, Mark and Nazaret Gonzalez.
