Holly Cheryl Salars was born on November 3, 1973 and passed May 1, 2024 at her home in Phoenix, AZ. Born and raised in Silver City inside of two large families, she learned quickly how important family would be in her life. Through those strong family bonds with people all around, it allowed her to seek adventures in her life. She worked a wide variety of jobs in Silver City, Alaska, Tucson, and Phoenix. Holly loved experiences such as Skydiving, Hot Air Balloon rides, and Phoenix Pro sporting events of which she was an avid fan. She even attended Game 5 of the World Series last fall. Holly always made it a priority to participate in family events, so as years moved on it wasn't a surprise to understand how much she valued family gatherings.
Holly was a feisty woman and had a memorable laugh. She loved to dance, play card games, and had a couple of books going. Holly experienced some challenging times but she never gave up. She had an empowering way to use those life experiences to help others. In her most recent job as a rideshare driver, she talked about how many passengers gravitated towards talking with her, sharing their own personal struggles. She held space for them and would offer perspective or advice, if asked. Receiving feedback that her words were helpful made her heart happy. If she would have anything to say to us it would be to be kind - as you never know what small gesture or positive acknowledgment might make in someone's life.
Holly is preceded in death by her father Carl Salars, paternal grandfather Joe Salars, maternal grandmother Lena Scheier Menefee, Aunt Janine Menefee, and Uncle Steve Menefee. She is survived by her mother Judy Menefee, her brother Aaron Salars, his wife Courtenay and their daughters Morgan and Sydney, and her paternal grandmother Susie Salars. There are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that are feeling this loss and will miss Holly dearly.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on May 17, 2024 at the Silver City Women's Club, 411 Silver Heights Blvd, Silver City, NM 88061. Lunch will be served afterwards.
