SandovalRobertRobert Gutierrez Sandoval, 77, an Army veteran entered eternal rest Thursday, December 28, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 26, 1947 in Silver City, NM to Hipolito Sandoval and Dora Madero.

Robert worked for Surplus City, he was a firefighter and worked for CPS, which turned into Texas New Mexico Power, now PNM and he was employed with the power company for 48 years. He retired January 2021. His hobbies he enjoyed were hunting and fishing. He was in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 he serviced in the Army, he proudly volunteered in the Color Guard Chapter 358.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Sandoval of the family home; two sons, Robert John Sandoval and wife Heather of Modesto, CA; Jonathan Arroyos of Gillette, WY; one daughter, Trina Gojkovich and husband Danny of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren, Jerika Sargent, Lacey Gojkovich, Hailey Gojkovich, Robert Anthony Sandoval, Xavier Sandoval, Madison Arroyos, and Robert Gene Arroyos; two great grandchildren, Grayson and Emma; his sister, Gina Maestas and husband James of Silver City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-dad, Robert Madero; his special aunt, Stella Castillo.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 2nd from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to commence at 6pm with Lupe Flores reciting. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 3rd at 9:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Ephraim Ezulike officiating. Concluding service, he will be laid to rest at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers are BJ Maestas, Merejildo Placencio, John O'loughlin, Mike Molina, Hoyt Holmes, and Reagan Aguirre. Honorary pallbearers are Robert John Sandoval, Robert Anthony Sandoval, Xavier Sandoval, Jonathan Arroyos, and Robert Arroyos.
