The last concert of the GCCCA's 2023-24 concert season will feature Chrysalis Chamber Players with trumpeter Mary Bowden. Launching the CCP’s 12th season, founder Mary Elizabeth Bowden will be performing and touring with the women of the Chrysalis Chamber Players, presenting a recital of works for solo trumpet and string quartet. The program includes outstanding new arrangements and compositions highlighting virtuosic works by Beach, Debussy, Haydn, Bach, Mozart, and more.

"A Burlesque Take on the History of Baseball in SW New Mexico"
Silver City -- For baseball fans, there's nothing like springtime and the start of baseball season. Thursday, April 18, the Silver City Museum and WILL (Western Institute for Lifelong Learning) present "A Burlesque Take on the History of Baseball in Southwest New Mexico," from noon to 1 pm at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center on the campus of WNMU, at the corner of 12th and Kentucky streets. The event is free, and will be presented by local historian Doug Dinwiddie, PhD.

Literacy Link-Leamos holds Love Your Library Day at the Silver City Public Library Saturday, April 20
(Silver City, NM) – Literacy Link-Leamos will host Love Your Library Day on Saturday, April 20, 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Silver City Public Library. The event will take place throughout the whole library and outside, featuring many fabulous door prizes, music, tinsel fairy-hair extensions, stories, games, bubbles, snacks, robot demos, and even a fire truck. The Fiddling Friends will play between noon and 1pm, and there will be lotería, crafts, and lots of free books. The NMSU Grant County Extension and other partners will be present.

She is the author of three acclaimed books: How to Communicate With the Dead…and How Cultures Do It Around the World (September 2019); Life is a Trip: The Transformative Magic of Travel; and The Spoon From Minkowitz, about the importance of knowing where you come from.
Original Poem and Music Featured in Fashion Show

The Tapestry of Talent Fiber Art Fashion show, a fundraiser for the SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) features wearable fiber art and accessories. The fiber art fashions made by members of SWFAC showcase one-of-a-kind designs created especially for the event. The show will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 with doors opening at 1:15 pm at the historic Silco Theater located at 311 N. Bullard St. in downtown Silver City. Funds raised by the event will go to support classes, outreach to the community, and sales events.
Metamorphosis is the theme of the fashion show’s finale and will be introduced with an original poem by Emily Marie accompanied by original music by Ross Goldstein. The entire show is emceed by Bill Nolde with background music by Stefan Schyga. “We are so grateful to have these talented artisans share their work with us. Their contributions add so much to the show”, states Lisa Rush, stage manager for the show.
