Caller advised she saw an injured deer on the side of the roadway/it was hit but is not dead. Deputy advised the deer is dead and was given to a family.

Requesting a welcheck on husband/advised that male sent a video to wife/he was cocking a 9mm handgun/was called in by NMSP dispatch. Second caller advised her sister-in-law's boyfriend was threatening suicide/he lives with his mother.

Caller advised the father is refusing to communicate with her about the daughter/caller has a court order/he has been cursing her out all morning. Officer advised everything is okay/calling caller.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Ray Tavizon. Ray served as a former chairman of the Grant County Republican Party and as a current State Central Committee Member. Ray also served many years in law enforcement within Hidalgo and Grant County.
"From his selfless work as a law enforcement officer to his impactful involvement within the Republican Party, Ray always put others first. He will be remembered as a champion for the people," said RPNM chairman Steve Pearce.

SILVER CITY, NM, February 21, 2024 – The weather is beginning to warm as the sun climbs higher north along the horizon on its annual march toward the spring equinox. With the warming weather, more people are getting out and enjoying all that the Gila National Forest has to offer. Recently, law enforcement officers have observed and received reports of a number of violations related to litter and motorized vehicles.
"Even if you are a frequent public land visitor, it is wise to check the rules and regulations that apply to the area of your planned visit before heading out," said Silver City District Ranger Elizabeth Toney. "These rules exist in order to protect natural resources as well as public health and safety."

Glenwood Ranger District closed Thursday February 22
GLENWOOD, NM, February 21, 2024 – The Gila National Forest, Glenwood Ranger District office will be closed Thursday, February 22 for an all-employee team building event.
"While we regret any inconvenience to our customers, it's important to be able to take a day out to work together on relationships and office norms so that we can all be more effective and efficient in our jobs" said Glenwood District Ranger Brian Stultz. "We will resume normal business hours on Friday, February 23."

Our organization is seeking volunteers to be vendors and assist the students in making financial decisions based on a supplied budget.
