SILVER CITY, NM, August 30, 2024 – The Gila National Forest manages numerous small water systems that provide drinking water. On February 24, 2024, we were notified that we failed to collect required drinking water samples for inorganic nitrates/nitrites. Although this incident was not an emergency, as our customers, the public has a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct the situation.

We are headed into Fall with a great line up of Festivals and Fun in Silver City. This month we are going to feature two such events with the women who keep them going.
The Rotary Club of Silver City hosts bake sale and provides an opportunity to meet with a local World War II Veteran, Bill Harrison while raising funds for the Indian Springs Ranch
The Rotary Club of Silver City will provide a unique opportunity to meet Bill Harrison, local, World War II Veteran at a Bake Sale on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The fundraiser will be at the Makers Market located in beautiful downtown Silver City at the Main Street Plaza, 700 N. Bullard Street, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Several homemade baked treats will be available for purchase; all are welcome, please invite your friends and family and help us spread the word. In addition to the bake sale fundraiser the club will be matching up to $1,000 in local contributions to help support the Indian Springs Ranch, Warrior's Retreat.

The exhibit features historic and contemporary Art made by Chiricahua Apache Artists, that includes Paintings, Baskets, Regalia, Sculpture, Jewelry and other works. The show will be up for the entire month of September.
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Silver City Public Library will celebrate by offering one week of free library card replacements on Monday, September 16 through Saturday, September 21, 2024, during normal library operating hours. Each person's first library card is always free, but the library normally charges $5.00 to replace lost cards. "We offer free library card replacement days once or twice every year. It is a great opportunity for those who have lost their cards to regain access to library resources and services," explained Lillian Galloway, library assistant director

Male showed up and a lady before him stole his dog/he is saying the lady is identified and is in a beat-up white truck. Caller is the scale attendant and will hold (redacted) on the scale until a deputy arrives.

Male and female across the street arguing and believe they are throwing things at each other. Officer advised contact with two subjects on campus/out with a named female and a named male/negative warrants both subjects.

Caller's neighbor is pushing the son, yelling at him and slapping him/they are always yelling at the 11-year-old/caller saw the mom's boyfriend hit him. Just kicked out of the house after arguing with his mother/he walked out of the house – not kicked out/but he broke the window to caller's vehicle/caller then told him he was not welcomed back to the house.
