An Exploration of Afghan Blankets—Known and Rediscovered" Exhibition
Portales, NM – September 3, 2024 – The Runnels Gallery at Eastern New Mexico University is thrilled to announce its latest exhibition, "Beautiful Utility," on display from August 16 through September 20, 2024.
This unique exhibition celebrates the artistry and heritage of Afghan blankets, a vibrant expression of textile craftsmanship that intertwines utility and beauty. The gallery is in the Golden Student Success Center (GSSC) and is open during GSSC hours with free admission to the public.

The University Art Museum at New Mexico State University is hosting three new exhibitions beginning Friday, Sept. 27. Aggies should keep their eyes on the skies next month to catch the debut of New Mexico State University's new, official hot air balloon, decked out in crimson and white.
The hot air balloon is set to make its first public appearance with a balloon glow during a pep rally sponsored by the Associated Students of NMSU the evening of Thursday, Sept. 26, in the tailgate lot east of Aggie Memorial Stadium. The balloon will also be on display between the Pan American Center and Aggie Memorial Stadium throughout the day Saturday, Sept. 28, ahead of the Aggies' football matchup against the University of New Mexico.
Portales, NM – August 27, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University was recognized nationally and statewide in the Niche.com 2025 Best College Rankings released this week. Nationally, ENMU is ranked in the top 15 percent of universities in eight different categories. For the state of New Mexico, ENMU is ranked either first or second in nine different categories.
The highest national ranking for the University in the 2025 Niche.com rankings is recognition as the best online college in America. The highest New Mexico rankings for ENMU include being recognized as the safest college, the college with the best academics, and the best online college in the state.
New Mexico State University recently ranked 27 among the top 50 Best Value Hispanic Serving Institutions for International Students in a study generated by Study Abroad Aide, the largest and most comprehensive database of universities in the world.
