The regular monthly board meeting of the Grant Soil and Water Conservation District will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the NRCS Building; 3082 32nd Street Bypass; Suite C; Silver City, NM 88061. The meeting is open to the public.

The 2024 Silver City Art Association Independent Artists Holiday Market continues the tradition, begun after the pandemic, of offering holiday shoppers unique gifts at affordable prices. This year's indie market also continues the tradition of creating a welcoming shopping experience with homemade treats and live music, with a "musical lunch" from 11am to 2pm. This will include quiche and sandwiches for sale, live instrumental music by Peter Dahl-Bredine and Marc Yakley, as well as comfortable seating for a relaxing break from the often stressful holiday shopping rush.

Work will be juried and prizes awarded the night of the opening.
There will be refreshments, meet the artists, and vote for "Silver's Favorite, which will be announced at the closing on December 1.

The Silver City Art Association supports members as galleries, studios, and independent artists. Susan Mach, Whimsy Among the Desert Grasses, 7" high x 7" dia, ceramicForty-seven independent artists are currently members of the association. A selection of work by the independent artists will be presented in this exhibition.

The Silver City Art Association is a non-profit organization of galleries, studios, independent artists and friends dedicated to creating a rich and vibrant art scene. We celebrate and support diverse visual arts in our historic town of Silver City and throughout Grant County.

In Spring of 2017 Karen Hymer purchased the large, neglected building and began major renovations. The main gallery was completed and later a second gallery space, the Flash Gallery, finished in 2018. The studio provides space for workshops with a back door leading to patio and outdoor area ideal for small parties and events.

SILVER CITY, NM, Oct. 7, 2024 – All Gila National Forest offices will be closed on Monday, October 14 in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The day of observance was established in October 2021 by Presidential Proclamation, which states, "Since time immemorial, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians have built vibrant and diverse cultures — safeguarding land, language, spirit, knowledge, and tradition across the generations. On Indigenous Peoples' Day, our Nation celebrates the invaluable contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples, recognizes their inherent sovereignty, and commits to honoring the Federal Government's trust and treaty obligations to Tribal Nations."
