Petra "Peggy" Quintanar Gomez, 88, a lifelong resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 9, 1936 to her parents Lazaro and Gertrude (Hernandez) Quintanar in Silver City, NM.
Peggy was a cherished mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend. She pursued her passion as a beautician after graduating from Western High School in 1955. Peggy met Ramon, a barber who went on to be the love of her life and husband of 59 years. Together they created a loving home for their three children and became godparents to 36 godchildren. As a devoted homemaker and caregiver, she was an outstanding cook who loved organizing family fish fry picnics and making flour tortillas with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and collecting blue willow china. She was a devout Catholic, a Guadalupana and Cursillista. Peggy was revered by many and will be missed dearly.
Stephen "Tuddie" S. Chacon Sr., 85, of Santa Clara passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.
Service arrangements are pending under the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
Tuddie was born December 26, 1938 in Santa Rita, NM. Tuddie was a proud Navy veteran and retired from Fort Bayard Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ramon T. Chacon; mother, Maria Chacon; and brother, Alvino Chacon.
Tuddie is survived by his wife, Lily Chacon; children, Barbara Martinez (Eddie Joe), Stephen Chacon Jr., Rudy Chacon (Valerie); stepchildren, Denise, Rick, and Mark; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
Maria Beatriz Candelaria, 95, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, October 31, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1929 in Fierro, NM to Ysidro and Josefa B. Hernandez.
Beatriz was a wonderful and amazing mom, awesome grandma, great grandma, cool aunt and a loving mother-in-law and dedicated wife. Her favorite daily pastimes were cooking and making tortillas. She especially enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to make tortillas. On her honorary side, she was the one-armed bandit that enjoyed gambling. She had a sense of humor and said funny little jokes which of course made us smile and or laugh. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by six sons, Enrique "Henry" Candelaria (Lillian) of Rio Rancho, NM; Johnny Candelaria of Bayard; Bobby Candelaria of Bayard; Antonio Candelaria (Sylvia) of Bayard; Ricardo Candelaria of Arenas Valley; Jesus Candelaria (Barbara) of Santa Clara; one daughter, Betty Herrera (Ray) of Bayard; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; one brother, Pete Hernandez of Las Cruces; two sisters, Mary Soliz of Fullerton, CA; Dora Tovar; two brothers in-law, Gilbert Sanchez and Tony Eres; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark Alan Boyle, 62, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Bellflower, CA and grew up in Silver City where he finished his junior high education, then moved to Houston, TX to join his mother and brother. Mark joined the Houston Police Department and retired at 25 years of service in the narcotics department. Mark's passions were his family and friends but surfing with his chocolate lab "Hobie" was his happiest place.
Mark enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, traveling and was a big sports fan. Mark is now in Heaven with his best 4-legged friends, Hobie and Dakota. Mark will be sadly missed. His memory will be with us always.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Boyle of Boulder City, NV; his mother, Carolyn (Coussons) Pastorelli of Yountville, CA; his aunt, Kathy Smith of Silver City, NM; his brother, David Boyle of Oakland, CA; his sister, Ana Marcella Boyle Padilla (Chris) of Southern, CA; his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States.

Mary E. Hernandez, 76, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Silver City Care Center. She was born on December 12, 1947 to her parents, Antonio and Juanita (Hernandez) Estrada in Santa Rita, NM.
She is survived by her husband, Melquiades Hernandez of the family home; her daughter, Rebecca Hernandez of Mesa, AZ; her brother, Alfredo Hernandez (Silvia) of Silver City, NM; her sisters, Leonor Mendoza (Mario) of Silver City, NM and Gloria Sierra of Tucson, AZ; her nephew Mariano Estrada (Mary Lou) of Silver City, NM.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 2:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Minister Angel Rivera officiating.
