Dola Jane Arnspiger (Janie), age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. She was born May 8th, 1948 in Grant County to Charles Shinn and Dola (Fulton) Shinn.
She was a 1966 graduate of Cobre High School. She married Billy M. Arnspiger on December 29, 1990. They were a match made in heaven. She worked as a USPS Contract Postal Carrier for 25+ years, she took pride in her job and loved all the people she met along the way. Janie was a member of the Lower Mimbres Fire department, showing her uncanny need to help people in need. Janie truly had a heart of gold. She would put her own stuff behind to help a complete stranger. Janie had unconditional love for her family and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharmon Taylor, granddaughters, Kaleigh (Eric) Herberg & Jordan Hoover, great granddaughters, Makenna & Madelyn Herzberg. She is preceded in death by her Husband Billy Mims Arnspiger, Parents Dola Pearl Shinn & Charles Allen Shinn, and brother Charles Victor Shinn.
Robert Herbert, Jr., 72, a resident of Santa Clara, NM, entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Gila Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Terrazas Funeral Chapels ~ 575-537-0777.
Quma Martinez Carrillo, 47, A helper, encourager, fighter, and believer. Born on June 25th, 1976. Died on June 7th, 2024. A former resident of Grant County, NM, now of Odessa, TX, entered eternal rest in Odessa, TX. She was born to her parents, David and Yolanda (Martinez) Carrillo in Rock Springs, WY.
She grew up in Silver City, New Mexico, but was a true traveler at heart who lived in California, Arizona, North Dakota, and finally Texas. Quma always enjoyed being with her friends, family and pets (most of all maybe€¦she'd laugh). She was fond of gardening, growing some of the most beautiful sunflowers and ears of blood red corn. Photography is something she did frequently, taking pictures of all natural landscapes and wild animals under the sun. She enjoyed reading classical novels such as The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein, both great novels that she always recommended. Quma cooked amazing dishes, she loved to eat as well, one of her favorite foods being green enchiladas. Listening and dancing to Spanish music was a favorite pastime of hers.
Jessie Wiggins, 78, longtime Deming resident passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024 in Las Cruces, NM. She was born January 15, 1946 in Deming, NM to Isidro Bencomo and Maria Vasquez.
Visitation will begin Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 4 to 6 o'clock in the evening at Baca's Funeral Chapel. The Holy Rosary will then be recited at 6. A Funeral Service will follow on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10 o'clock in the morning also at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the final interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming.
Jessie is survived by her children, Lueugene Wiggins, Enrique Wiggins, Frank Wiggins, Robert Bencomo, Shanice Wiggins, Lahoma Bencomo Castile, and Lillie Bencomo; 3 siblings, Tomas Vasquez, Dolores Garcia, and Christina Meraz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a very special niece and nephew Melissa Rae-Lee and Ernest Vasquez.
ROCIO CHAVEZ 39 yrs. old & LORRAINE ADEL CHAVEZ SAENZ 2 yrs. old, residents of Lordsburg passed away Friday, May 31, 2024,
Funeral services will be at the Lordsburg Harvest Church on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 9 a.m.. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery, if possible. If not a memorial service will take place and interment will be at a later date.
Rocio was born October 24, 1984, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Robert Chavez and Adela Zambrano.
Lorraine was born in Silver City on March 27, 2022, to Bartolo Saenz and Rocio Chavez.
Rocio and Lorraine enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
ADELA ZAMBRANO CHAVEZ, 84, a former resident of Lordsburg, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Funeral services will be Saturday June 22, 2024 at 9 o'clock in the morning at the Lordsburg Harvest Church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Adela was born May 17, 1940 in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Benigno and Maria Mendoza Zambrano. She had lived in Lordsburg most of her life until she moved to Las Cruces about 3 years ago. Adela worked as a housekeeper in the local motel's and always enjoyed a chance to go to the casino or go shopping. She was an extremely loved by all her family and friends.
She is survived by 3 sons, Ernesto Marquez of Albuquerque, Arreal Zambrano of Puerto Rico, Jesus Manuel Chavez of Las Cruces; 3 daughters, Zulema Gutierrez (Doro) of Lordsburg, Yrazema Cabrera of Las Cruces and Maribel Mange of Las Cruces; brothers,
She is survived also by her brothers and sisters: Arturo Avila and Epifanio Zambrano; sister, Guadalupe Zambrano; and 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Adela was recently preceded in death by her daughter, Rocio Chavez, and granddaughter, Lorraine Adel Chavez Saenz.
Terry Len Lewis, 70, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He was born January 20, 1954 to his parents, Elzie Leo and Juanita Bonnell (Ridling) Lewis in Las Cruces, NM.
In loving memory of Terry Lewis, a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly. Terry was a dedicated family man who found joy in making his yard a beautiful sanctuary through planting and gardening. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his loved ones and his passion for the outdoors shone through in his love for hunting, fishing, and camping. An entrepreneur from a young age, Terry's journey began at R&L Shamrock Gas Station, founded by his father Elzie and his grandfather & "Buttermilk." Starting at the young age of eight, Terry's work ethic and dedication to the family business were evident as he washed headlights and windshields, a humble beginning that paved the way for his entrepreneurial spirit to flourish. The gas station wasn't just a place of work for Terry; it was a part of his identity, and he cherished the relationships he built with the customers. With a good sense of humor, simplicity, and a down-to-earth nature, Terry Lewis will be remembered not only as a businessman but as a kind-hearted soul who left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
