Olga Casarez, 69, entered eternal rest at her childhood home in Bayard, NM. She ended her battle with cancer on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Olga was born at the hospital in Silver City on July 24, 1955. She graduated from Cobre High School and New Mexico State College. She moved to Lakeview, Oregon in 1983 to work for the U.S. Forest Service as an administrative officer. She retired with 31 years of service in 2013. Olga was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. There she worked on many projects to help her church. She married Mark Klunder on February 2, 1985. They celebrated 40 years of marriage on Groundhog Day 2025. Before retiring and after treatment, she and her husband, Mark, traveled all over the world and went on many cruises. She kept close with her high school and college friends through the years.
Olga was preceded in death by her father and mother, David and Rosa Casarez.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Klunder, of Lakeview, Oregon; her two sons, Adam Klunder of Portland, Oregon and Anthony (Kelli) Klunder of Park City, Utah; and her sister, Carmen (Willie) Hoefler of Russellville, Arkansas.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels. Olga's Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at eleven o'clock in the morning. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Mary Lou Garcia, 84, longtime Deming resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She born on September 19, 1940 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Daniel and Adelina Peña.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2 to 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow and has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
Mary Lou was a very patient and loving mother. She was always there for her children and grandchildren with a listening ear. She made everyone laugh with a joke and witty comment. Mary Lou always made sure all who came to her home had a warm meal and felt welcomed.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Pineda and husband Victor Pineda, Rose Ann Gonzales and husband Jose Luis Gonzales, Isabel "Booty," Guadalupe, Juan, Marcelina, Eddie, and Dolores Garcia; a brother, Fidencio Peña; she is also survived by 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Garcia; a daughter, Mary Ellen Garcia and her brothers, Deacon Daniel Peña, Chris Peña, and Richard Peña.

Robert McIntire, 86, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, February 17, 2025, at his residence. Arrangements are pending with Terrazas Funeral Chapels ~ 575-537-0777.

LARRY BENAVIDEZ, age 57, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 9, 2025 in Tucson, AZ. He was born October 3, 1967 in Silver City, NM., to Julia Altamirano Young and David Torres Benavidez. In September 1995, Larry began his employment with Freeport McMoran where he was a Sr. Supervisor of Drilling and Blasting. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and cruises. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Tamra Burris Benavidez of Silver City; his father, David Benavidez of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 sons, James Benavidez and wife, Stephany of Hurley; Gabriel Benavidez of Santa Clara and Jerod Sandoval of Nashville, TN., 2 daughters, Ashley Benavidez-Cabrera and husband, Gabriel, of Hurley and Nicole Sandoval of Morenci, AZ; a brother Danny Benavidez and wife, Rachel of Silver City; and his step-father, Dennis Atwater. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, AJ, Destiny, Gabriel Matthew, Adriana, Isaiah, and Alaia, and one great-granddaughter, Laila Villanueva. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Young Atwater; maternal grandparents, Manuel and Chonita Young; paternal grandparents, Bernardo, and Esther Benavidez.
Armando Chavira, 75, Deming resident passed away February 14, 2025 at his residence.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel where recitation of the holy rosary will take place at 6 o'clock led by Nena Juarez. On Wednesday morning he will be transported to Colonia Fernandez Leal, Janos, Chihuahua where he will be placed to rest at the Cemeterio Municipal.
Armando was born in October 23, 1949 at Casa de Janos, Chihuahua to Josefa Bencomo and Simon Chavira. He worked as a cowboy most of his working years and loved to go to the horse races. He liked to be with his family and sing to them whenever he had a chance on family gatherings, parties and just because, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a friendly man and well known.
He is survived by his wife; Silvia Ramirez, sons; Ubaldo Chavira, Luis Chavira, Adrian Chavira (Lizbeth Aguilar), Armando Chavira, Andres Rodriguez, Ubaldo Rodriguez and Juan Diego (Joyce) Rodriguez, daughters; Margarita Chavira (Santos Amaro), Griselda Chavira (Salvador Sanchez), Beatriz Chavira (Jorge Sandoval Miranda) and Diana Angelina (Gerardo) Soto, 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, siblings; Alejandro, Ramon (Pilar), Atilano and Evangelina Chavira.
Stephanie Marie Norero, 41, of Las Cruces, NM passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 in Las Cruces surrounded by her loving family and cousins.
Stephanie was born November 17, 1983 in Huntington Park, California to Rose Saborio and Robert Norero Sr. She was raised in Hurley, NM and, later on, moved to Las Cruces. She was a mother to the light of her eyes, Xavier Sarabia (Chloe), Joseph Chavarria, Kalani Norero and Tristan Villado who survive her. She is also survived by her mother, Rose Norero (Jorge Arivizo); father, Robert Norero Sr; brother, Robert Norero Jr (Eva); sister, Pamela Castillo; brother-in-law, Rudy Castillo Sr; aunts, Natalia Saborio, Paula Holguin (Leroy), Melinda Gonzalez (Alfonso), her many nieces and nephews; and her Saborio and Norero cousins who all loved her very much.
Stephanie's children were her world and priority. She loved and adored them. She was a wonderful mom. Her favorite pastimes were listening to music, being with her children and family gatherings, cruising in the mountains and camping.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Samuel and Paula Norero; maternal grandparents, Pedro and Socorro Saborio; uncle and aunt, Manuel Sr. and Beda Saborio; aunt, Patty Saborio; uncle, Ross Lucero Sr.; cousins, Stephen Norero, Marsha Norero and her Saborio cousins.
Roberta Lynn Zacharias, 70, a resident of Cliff, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her residence. She was born June 18, 1954 to her parents, Robert and Lynette (Miller) Brown, in Silver City, NM.
She is survived by her daughters, Ana Zacharias (Nate) of Cliff, NM and Kelly Wirtz (Robert) of Hermiston, OR; her brothers, Duane Brown of Gila, NM and Mike Miller (Kathy) of South Dakota; her six grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews.
